A Festive Dinner and More
FOR OUR HOMELESS GUESTS
For those experiencing homelessness, Christmas can be a painful reminder of poverty, failure and separation from family. Add in this year’s coronavirus pandemic, and the loneliness can be overwhelming.
That is why we are hosting Show Some Love, an event designed to boost the emotional health of hungry and hurting neighbors and to encourage men to enter one of the Mission’s life-changing training programs. We believe if we show them we care, they can learn to care about themselves.
For the Show Some Love event on December 21,we transform the shelter into a Christmas wonderland—with an elegant dinner, festive entertainment via Zoom from Capital City Symphony and celebrity appearances including Donnie Simpson, photo ops, games and gift bags filled with inspirational and meaningful gifts. So they look dapper for the event, we’ll also provide each man with a “pampering kit” to help them feel special and cared for.
You can bring hope to forgotten souls at Christmas. Here’s how:
Donations can be dropped off safely at the shelter at 65 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20001 from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm daily. Please label them “ATT: Marc O’Brien.” For more information, contact Rev. Deborah Chambers at 202-827-3078 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
